The John Scott Combo
John "Scotty" Scott and the boys in New York City circa 1953
Originally the Scott Kooly Combo, named after Scott and his cat Kooly, later became The John Scott Big Band in 1958 and then the John Scott Combo in 1964.  John "Scotty" Scott and the boys have been together for most of  the last 5 decades. Scotty is the bands Musical Director,  MD for short, but he also plays with the band every chance he gets.
Scotty's first instruments were the accordion and then French Tuba,  today he  masters 15 instruments including the Stand Up Bass and the Chinese Tube Saw.

His 14 piece band has played for audiences all over the world. The boys have played in places as recognizable as Sho Low, Arizona and West Mineral, Kansas and as diverse as Vishakhapatnam, India. To say that these boys have been around the block once or twice or even five times would be an understatement.

Scotty has played with the likes of Matt "Mad Man' Materson as well as show stoppers like, Jack "The Toupee" Tyler.
He played for the Duke of Colby in 1962 and in 1971 for the Queen of Aldabra, a small island nation in the Seychelles.

Having been on many Television shows, you may have seen him on The Larence Welk show or the forever popular "Wallace & Ladmo" Show out of Phoenix Arizona.

The boys retired in 1992.  Since then they have played at a few state fairs and at the 1997 Michigan "Toys for Tots" campaign held in Benton Harbor, Michigan.  It was at this show that long time friend and Trombone player Pete "Thin Man" Barnett died right in the middle of the Johnny Mercer tune "Laura". They finished the song in great John Scott style, even though the "Thin Man" went head first into a pile of neopolitan double fudge ice cream log cakes with chocolate sauce. After that show the boys swore they'd never play again.

Until now! Today the boys have a new Trombone  player, Pete "The Thin Man" Barnet (one 'T'),  and their very own stage built with them in mind at Hollywood Chung's Comedy Ballroom. They also travel with the show to exotic locations around the world.

Like John "Scotty" Scott always said, The best days are the times I say every day. And I know what's that!

Go get em Scotty, you cool cat!
